A significant development regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill is taking place today as the bill, passed by the Lok Sabha yesterday, will be presented for discussion and voting in the Rajya Sabha. The debate is scheduled to begin at 1 PM, with BJP leader JP Nadda set to be the first speaker. As the leader of the house in the Rajya Sabha, Nadda will represent the government’s position on the bill. Several other prominent BJP leaders are also on the list of speakers, including Sudhanshu Trivedi, Radhamohan Das Agarwal, Brijlal, and Mehda Kulkarni. Congress representatives, such as Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Nasir Hussain, and Imran Pratapgarhi, will present their viewpoints as well. Additionally, TMC's Mohammad Nadeemul Haque and Sushmita Dev will also take part in the debate. With the Lok Sabha’s passage behind it, the Waqf Amendment Bill now faces critical scrutiny in the Rajya Sabha. The government is expected to defend the bill, while the opposition may raise concerns regarding its potential impact on communal harmony.
